这个 person 指的是谁？

became the imperial patron of the "Boxers"
Boxers应该指的是“义和团”，这里为什么是patron?

of后面的词是其前名词的同位语，后面那一段话都是形容她的

"the person of the ignorant Empress Dowager Tzu Hsi" 里 "the person of" 强调只有慈禧这个人，只有她一个人，可翻译成“背時无知的慈禧太后这个人”。再给一个例句：

We learn something about the person of Theophilus in Luke 1: 1- 3 of the Bible.
从《圣经》路加福音1 ：1-3节中我们可以知道关于提阿非罗的这个人的一些事情。

patron 是顾客，也可以是恩主、资助人。在较为古意的商业关系里，二者相通。
