朗文高阶似有一处错误

在查询verdict一词时在朗文高阶第五版（在第六版和网页版均如此）看见这样一个例句：

1 U6 ^, A  I; e) J: Q在牛津、柯林斯及其它词典全文检索，均没有出现at appeal的用法，粗略谷歌了一下，似乎也没有这样的用法。

朗文可能恰好选了一个比较少见的语料吧

1. 原文引用可能有问题。
# l6 U" g/ i1 f2. 如果的确是用at appeal，侧重阶段和时间段，甚至at appeal court的可能性大（英文原文文风比较随意）。
1 Q% _0 R3 l6 A- c" {3 M! }截图之一源自美联社，应该不会存在拼写错误，即at appeal （错误）/ an appeal (正确)。

on等普通介词的用法的确非常繁杂难懂。
on的一个常见用法就是：
indicating the state or in the process of ...
5 {0 C& j( R& mMWCD也对on appeal给出了解释：

这样看来，如果表示在上诉法院，应该用at，如果仅表示上诉阶段或过程中，用on或at都可以。
