6 e) c5 r/ Q# C9 P0 `the same analysis applies. if one is talking about the information, ideas, or the story of a book, film, etc. as a whole without going into detail, the singular is preferred. if one is construing the subject matter in individuated items, plural forms are used. the sentence written by e. b. white refers to particular pieces of information in that letter rather than the letter in its entirety (if so, he'd not have been taking notes, he'd be copying the letter), so the plural 'contents' is justified. |
