搜了下，这句话是有上下文的，但是只能看到一句。

搞不好原文作者想指的是凯恩斯在那书里的简短难懂的话语。因为凯恩斯是伟人嘛，虽然言简意不赅，他写的可能总会有那么点道理，所以委婉地说是 gnomic ，又加了个 somewhat 。

- W8 Q& p+ k6 Q6 B( w《新世纪》的翻译更保守点，《柯林斯》可能有点偏离原意。

如果原始文章中的那个 gnomic 可以用上面这个义项来理解的话，就是说凯恩斯的《通论》写的太像箴言了以致都到达让人费解的程度了，不知道这样理解对不对？

这不过是翻译造成的感情色彩不同。
看看MWCD9：
1 f! O  K$ c+ q9 o1.Characterized by aphorism(=short wise saying)不就是格言、警句吗？当然是精辟、睿智之类的褒义，而且这条释义MWCD9注明词义早在1815年就有（不排除后来的词义发展变化），英美词典看法也未必一致。

的确，个人认为，美式英语对gnomic的解释为褒义，基本意思是含格言的，精炼的；英式英语，偶尔含贬义，含有模糊不清，言语故意高深莫测，使之神秘，有炫耀嫌疑。
