从语义上理解，参见@sabrina2111的回答；从语法上理解，主语是The freshness and dynamism，谓语动词应该用was，反之，如果是The freshness and the dynamism那就是复数了。

像@shiruxue指出的，如果指两个人或者物，一般需要重复限定词。省略限定词或者用单数，都表示两物以某种方式紧密相关连，或者指同一个事物，也就是@sabrina2111说的一个概念，那就不用动词复数形式。

Good question.

Native speakers care much much less about the singular/plural consistency than we learners do. If you are an everyday listener, you'd find ton of such inconsistencies in nearly every speech they make. There's just no reasoning to it.
