A vaccine to get from phase I to phase III trials in just ten months, as rVSV-ZEBOV did, was unheard of at the time... 应该就是“For a vaccine to get from phase I to phase III trials in just ten months”,介词短语(词串)整体作主语。

For a vaccine ..., was unheard of at the time

我现在感觉是不定式做主语,to get from phrase I to phrase III... for a vaccine… I am no expert in grammar. All the grammar terms make my head spin.
But I do know what's proper English. :P That's what matters in the end, right?
Pan. You are most welcome, Sabrina.
