抱歉，引用的材料还是简单了些~ @ mxh3698 道友的解释，我表示认同，还原成一种“比较符合经典”的句子；至于加上介词 for，我个人的解读是，从翻译这个角度去考量。For a vaccine ..., was unheard of at the time 对于十个月内便能搞定三期疫苗实验（这种事情、情况等），真是闻所未闻。当然，我也一直以为，母语人士写出来的句子，多数情况会是更加地道和简洁，少数情况只有作者自己本人最为清楚（说不定是一种文字的显摆）。 mxh3698 发表于 2020-4-21 22:19

Or you can say, "it's unheard-of that a vaccine can go from Phase I to Phase II in just ten months".
Or
A vaccine going from .. to .. in ten months is unheard of.

我现在感觉是不定式做主语，to get from phrase I to phrase III... for a vaccine… I am no expert in grammar. All the grammar terms make my head spin.
But I do know what's proper English. :P That's what matters in the end, right?
